    The Arizona Republican, Phoenix, Arizona,June 04, 1902 Page 3: Mrs. C. W. Pattee of Cottonwood died at 1 o'clock Sunday night May 25, of scarlet fever. Dr. Kaull and Coleman were the attending physicians, and used every means in their power to give relief but to no avail. Mrs. Pattee was 17 years of age and had been married oily fifteen months. She leaves a babe, her husband, two brothers and her father and mother, Mr. & Mrs. Kiser, to mourn her loss. The body was interred at the Cottonwood cemetery. Rev. Oliver from Jerome conducted the funeral service. The entire community extend their sympathies in the bereaved husband and relatives.

Hugh had enlisted from Fairplay, Grant County, Wisconsin on 01 Dec 1861. On 05 Dec 1861, he was commissioned a First Lieutenant of Co. G, 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry. He resigned his commission on 03 May 1862. He enrolled on 28 July 1862 in Co. A, 2nd Reg Arkansas Cavalry Volunteers. He was discharged 02 June 1863. COD pulmonary disease-catarrah of stomach.
